HellaBella Handcraft — Where Traditional Artistry Meets the Modern Web
Their handmade fashion brand based on Chikankari embroidery and sustainable textile culture required a worldwide online retail store to be as purposeful as the clothes they sold. It was constructed from scratch.

About the Client
Hello Bella Fashion is a Canadian handcrafted fashion label that is all about South Asian textiles, reinterpreted in a modern way, such as Chikankari embroidery, hand block prints and mul cotton. They have a cross-section of co-ord sets, dresses, loungewear, tops and accessories with a particular emphasis on sustainability, ethical sourcing and craftsmanship.
The brand is rooted in a clear philosophy: to reject fast fashion and embrace clothes that are ethically produced, long-lasting and transparent. They serve customers internationally in the South Asian community in Canada, the US, and the UK and required a digital storefront to tell that story as well as deliver a high-converting retail engine.
The Challenge
HellaBella’s selling had been done via Instagram DMs and WhatsApp, a tactic that was successful in the beginning but was impractical to scale. There was no central product catalogue, no checkout, no systematic tracking of orders, or returns. All sales were done by hand. However, their brand was also rich and unique — warm, hand crafted, story first — and anything built on a Shopify template would be completely unworthy of that brand.
Our Approach
To allow the client full ownership and flexibility of content, we decided to use WooCommerce on WordPress. The direction of the design was inspired by the brand’s visual language, including warm earthy colors, product photography that captures the artisanal essence, and ample white space. We created a hierarchy of products with 7+ categories, each having dedicated collection pages, and checkout optimization for an international audience.

Design Philosophy
The direction for the pictures was warm and purposeful. We chose not to go into the white background vibe of e-commerce and brought in an identity that reflected the hands-on manufacture of the clothes themselves—typography, generous product image layouts and color schemes drawn from among the brand’s own clothes instead of imposed from the outside.
Product pages were designed to tell stories before the Add to Cart buttons, adding to the trust that would convert first-time visitors browsing from Instagram into paying customers: the origin of the fabric, care instructions, and the context of the artisan. This directly reflects the brand’s in-person sales practices, in which the brand is warm and knowledgeable, not pressuring.
